Abstract
BYD started as a battery producer. Although it launched its first gasoline fueled car in 2005, BYD expected to gain a strong presence in the automotive market with its electric vehicles (EVs) ,and become China's number one carmaker by 2015, and the world's number one by 2025. Therefore, with its advantages in battery technology, and with its experiences of low-cost R&D and manufacturing, BYD launched its first model of EVs in 2008. In February 2015, the sales of BYD Qin reached 1,932 units, accounting for 32% of the total sales of NEVs in China in the same month .In 2014, BYD was ranked number 15 among the Chinese passenger vehicle brands with the sales of nearly 440,000 units. could it succeed in jumping from number 15 to number one in sales volumn?
