Abstract
As an important development zone in Pudong, Jinqiao development zone was developing continuously, yet there existed problems. In 2013, executives of Shanghai Jinqiao (Group) Co., Ltd. discussed the future development of the company at a meeting. Case (A) explains the development situation of Shanghai Jinqiao (Group) Co., Ltd. and defines the company’s three major characteristics as advanced manufacturing, production integration and the development of the industry’s transformation. It also analyzes the development zone in Shanghai and the surroundings, pointing out that the company would face difficulties and challenges in a new round of competition. Case (B) describes how on August 22, 2013, the state council formally approved the establishment of the Shanghai Free-Trade Zone; it also deals with the project planning and strategic thinking of the Lingang complex development area.
