Abstract
AutoNavi Software Co. is the leading provider of digital map content and navigation solutions in China. Their nationwide digital map database covers over 2.8 million kilometers of roadways and over 12.5 million points of interest across China. In this case we examine AutoNavi’s start up: how it obtained a license and set up its digital map database; its rapid increase in business and IPO in the NASDAQ; how it became the first in the industry to transition to the mobile internet market; the promotion of the company’s independent platform; and finally, being acquired by Alibaba during the transformation…. Always sensitive to the market, the company worked continually to identify industry trends and to respond with an optimized plan at the right time. Innovation and transformation are a marathon.
