The case chronicles the origin, growth and global expansion of Mindray, a leading Chinese developer, manufacturer, and marketer of medical devices worldwide. Through its focus on R&D and international expansion, Mindray sustained high performance and became one of China’s hidden gems. Partially impacted by the global financial crisis, Mindray’s performance and profitability have started to face many new challenges in recent years.
