Abstract
Cases (A) (B) (C) describe how the Bank of China Liaoning Branch relocated from Dalian to Shenyang as required by the headquarters and how it integrated the business across the board. As stated in case (A), in January 2016, the Bank of China headquarters decided to make strategic adjustments to its branch in Liaoning. And Jia Tianbing, the then president of the Bank of China Liaoning Branch who had been at the helm for six months, faced the challenge of splitting the organization and relocating to Shenyang, the provincial capital, in the space of just three months. Case (B) introduces how President Jia led the branch's senior management team to do preparatory work, set realistic yet thoughtful guidelines for cadres and employees, and take a series of effective measures to facilitate relocation. Case (C) describes the challenges faced by President Jia and other senior executives after the branch was relocated to Shenyang, especially the challenge of promoting integration across the board. At the same time, it details how they met the challenges and managed to grow their business between 2016 and 2020.
