Abstract
These two cases analyze a series of problems and decisions faced by Cathay Capital when it purchased a large amount of shares in Suofeiya Home Collection. Case (A) introduces the development and operation of Cathay, Suofeiya and their business partner, Sogal France. Special attention is given to analyzing the judgments of Cathay after being invited to invest in Suofeiya in October 2008, as well as to Suofeiya’s IPO strategy. Case (B) describes investor negotiations and the challenges faced by Suofeiya during the IPO process. These two cases explore investment decisions, business negotiations, IPOs and other issues, and are suitable for MBA, EMBA and manager training.
