Abstract
Recently, carbon neutrality and low-carbon transformation have been widely discussed, but many emissions-controlled companies and new energy companies are still at a loss as to how to become part of the carbon trading system. At the same time, they raise the questions: What is the carbon trading market? What are the latest policies on carbon trading? How to strike a proper balance between carbon trading and carbon reduction? The answers to these questions can be found in the case text. This case describes the overall decarbonization plan of S-based Hua Han Energy Group (a fictitious company name) to move toward China's "30-60" targets.
Energy groups are key to carbon neutrality. Typically, Chinese energy groups have many thermal power generation facilities. The thermal power industry is a key industry for energy saving, topping the list of eight emissions-controlled industries. At the same time, a large number of energy groups are vigorously developing wind and photovoltaic power. And clean energy is important in achieving zero carbon emissions and saving energy. This case expounds on the group's two-pronged approach to achieve "30-60" targets, namely energy consumption control measures and zero-emissions efforts. A three-step analysis is used here: What is the current situation? How will it develop in the future? How should the group react? This also offers valuable insights for other emissions-controlled companies.
