Abstract
This case focuses on the business model of Nanjing Culture and Art Asset Exchange, its founding and its successful innovation in the online trade of collectibles, such as coins and stamps. Established on August 9, 2011, Nanjing Culture and Art Asset Exchange is an untraditional trading platform company that brings together culture, finance and the internet. In such a special cultural niche, there are many problems an entrepreneur faces in seeking opportunities, designing business processes and building a successful business model. After the startup has been successfully founded, there are still many questions that need attention, such as how to develop the next strategy, how to extend the business model and how to deal with the imitators and other competitors who follow. This case also offers a guide to the challenges new ventures generally face after successfully creating an innovative business model, and an example an innovative, cultural-oriented business in an emerging market.
