Abstract
Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University is one of the top hospitals in China, consistently ranking among the best in various domestic hospital rankings due to its comprehensive strength. Since 1992, Zhongshan Hospital has been leveraging information systems to manage daily operations. In recent years, it has actively embraced the digital transformation wave sweeping across Chinese hospitals, increasing investments, establishing organizational mechanisms, and focusing on three main themes: "humanistic patient management", "functionalized resource management" and "intelligent business management ". It aims to explore the creation of a smart hospital model and has gained widespread recognition from healthcare regulatory authorities, patients, and society.
In February 2022, the city of Shanghai entrusted Zhongshan Hospital with the task of exploring the construction of the future hospital. From the release of the plan to the completion of scenario development, there was a tight timeline of only four and a half months. This sets the main decision-making scenario for this case. Zhongshan Hospital needs to address three key issues quickly, building upon its existing achievements:
First, how to define its own hospital of the future? This definition should also have a certain universality to facilitate future promotion.
Second, how to integrate the goals of future hospital construction with the goals of "high-quality development", which is the current work focus of Zhongshan Hospital, so as to empower each other?
Third, how to elevate digital transformation to the cultural level through the construction of a smart hospital, i.e., how to bring about a profound change in people's cognition and behavior through digitization?
